The need to diversify our lives beyond the stock market/retirement funding etc.. I fully expect some type of tax grab for Roth's -after all the same folks that created the law can change it. IOW there is NO security in this world, only probabilities when it comes to what the future will bring. We play the hands we're dealt with the best of the ability we're given. I would do something similar to what the blogger mentioned if I could get my wife on board.....there's still time yet. This echoes similar thoughts I’ve had. Any commercial lender worth his salt would have done the homework up front and imposed appropriate lending conditions before not after the fact. Nevertheless, government interference in a free market economy spells disaster - for anything to function efficiently and effectively the government footprint must be SMALL. History has shown there is a direct correlation between a healthy economy and two items - taxes and the price of energy. Higher taxes for the US to support government interference will undoubtedly kill the economy.
